Welcome to my WordPress.com newsletter subscribers! I’ve converted all of the previous newsletters to an online format to increase accessibility and decrease printing and delivery costs as well as to quickly update and add more content. Besides, blogs seem to be the new way of the future. Hope you like the changes.
First and foremost I want to thank you, if you’ve reading this newsletter right now, it must mean that you’ve already had a significant impact in my life and for that I’m incredibly grateful. As you might already know I’m an artist and art is a large part of my life, this last year I have worked on a lot of projects throughout the community ranging from murals to fine art galleries and chalk drawings to digital media. However, I have a greater desire to do even more art and to make a bigger impact through my art, so I am working towards making it a reality throughout 2008.
My idea for allowing this to happen is to raise a salary for the next year. I’ll be shooting for a shockingly low end goal, well below the poverty level for a single person home in Washoe County. My goal is $12,000 for the year, and just $1000 a month. I’m looking to find support from the community in which I too have been supporting. The idea is not to get paid for doing art, but to allow myself the time to create art and work on larger scale projects to ultimately create a greater effect on the city. This can only be done with your support. A number of organizations and individuals have already made pledges and I am well on my way to full support.
The goal of this newsletter is not necessarily to ask you for money, but rather to inform you of what my thoughts, ideas, and projects are. I hope that you will react in whichever way you’d like. Perhaps you’re excited about my endeavor and would like to support me financially, or have a friend or family member who would like to donate support, or maybe you have other ideas or suggestions as to how I can better achieve my goals, or you might be indifferent about the entire project and just wish me luck. I trust that you’ll do what you feel is best and I’d like to just thank you again.
